»Blind Melon« is the self-titled 1992 debut album by the celebrated rock band Blind Melon, which included the groundbreaking single »No Rain«. Blind Melon was fronted by singer Shannon Hoon (who also contributed backing vocals to Guns N' Roses' »Use Your Illusion I and II«) and had a distinctive sound influenced by Southern Rock and Psychedelic Rock. Songs like »Soak The Sin« and »Tones Of Home« evoke hard rock with a funky sound, »Time« recalls improvised music in the style of Grateful Dead, and acoustic songs like »Change« and »No Rain« hint at pop and folk influences. The band recorded most of the album with producer Rick Parashar (who had previously produced Pearl Jam's »Ten«) at London Bridge Studio in Seattle, Washington. Blind Melon's production is characterized by the use of outdated amplifiers and other antiquated studio technology.
