Rodrigo "Rod" Gonzalez, known as the bassist of Die Ärzte and frontman of the 60's band Mas Shake, dedicates his latest project "El Viaje" (The Journey) to his cultural roots. The musician, who fled with his family from Pinochet's military dictatorship to Hamburg in 1974 at the age of six, traveled back to his Chilean homeland decades later to perform with local musicians.
Among those involved are the band Chico Trujillo, who have already performed in the Hollywood Bowl, at Lollapalooza, and in Germany with their gripping Cumbia-Punk sound. Next up is the Grammy-nominated Camila Moreno, who builds a bridge between traditional Chilean sounds and contemporary pop, while singer-songwriter Alonso Nunez impresses with Patagonian Zamba sounds. JM, the Bolero legend from Valparaiso, is also featured, as is the Chilean institution Quilapayun. With Chinoy, flamenco, folk, indie, and punk merge into a unique mix, while Gaston Avila demonstrates his virtuosity on the guitar. Singer-songwriter Eduardo Yanez, one of the great representatives of the Nueva Cancion Chilena movement, is also featured.
