With the outstanding voice of Lydia Pense at the forefront, Cold Blood played their own mixture of funk, soul, R&B and underground rock. They rose to prominence in 1969, when Janis Joplin recommended Lydia Pense & Cold Blood to Bill Graham, who operated the legendary Fillmore West and Winterland.
Graham not only signed them to his own label, Fillmore Records, but also enthusiastically promoted them at both venues. This remarkable set was recorded on the emotional last night of the Fillmore West and shows the band at the height of their powers.
