The classic turns 50
50 years have passed since The Doors released their legendary studio album "The Soft Parade". To mark this special anniversary, the 50th Anniversary Deluxe Editions will be released in 2019.
"The Soft Parade" is the rock legends' fourth album. It was originally released in July 1969 and is considered an outsider by many fans due to its brass and string arrangements. Nevertheless, it reached number six on the charts in the USA.
For the re-release, the tracks were remastered by long-time Doors sound engineer and mixer Bruce Botnick. In addition to the standard CD, "The Soft Parade (50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)" is available as an extended set with three CDs and one LP.
The CDs feature the newly remastered original studio album, plus the single B-side "Who Scared You" as a bonus track. Also included are the stripped-down "Doors Only" versions, with the brass and string arrangements removed: "Who Scared You", "Tell All The People", "Touch Me", "Wishful Sinful" and "Runnin' Blue". The latter three include new guitar parts by Robby Krieger.
Other highlights include three songs from studio rehearsals, with Ray Manzarek (aka Screamin' Ray Daniels) on vocals, including an early version of "Roadhouse Blues". The tracks feature new bass parts played by Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots.
Last but not least, the first official release of the entire "Rock Is Dead" jam awaits.
The 180g LP contains the original album with liner notes by rock journalist David Fricke.
