Description

The Redtenbacher's Funkestra was founded in Boston, MA in 1996. Run by bassist, arranger/composer, producer and bandleader Stefan Redtenbacher this Jazz Funk collective have recorded 18 albums and numerous EPs to date. They have collaborated with the horn sections of Tower Power, the NPG hornz, Incognito and Brand New Heavies as well as their peers from the international Jazz and Funk scene like guitarists Cory Wong and Eric Krazno, Elliot Randall, drummers Stanton Moore, Benny Greb, Keith Carlock, horn players Rick Margitze, Alfred 'Pee Wee' Ellis, Fred Wesley, Lenny Pickett and Doc Kupka. Their albums have been released on Stefan's own RSB Records (London) label as well as Pedigree Cuts and Wooden Hat Records. Since 2019 the collective has served as the studio house band for the Masterlink Session in Surrey, UK. In this capacity they have filmed over one hundred and fifty live-in-the studio videos as well as cutting singles, EPs and entire albums for international artists. Live they have performed from large ensembles (big band with strings and vocalists), rhythm section with 2 to 5 horns to a standard five piece. They have performed at festivals, concert halls and clubs in the UK (including Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club), USA, Germany, Austria, Lativa and the Netherlands.
